Lake McConaughy

The last weekend in June, we ventured East to Lake McConaughy in Nebraska, this was a first for me and had been more than a decade for Doug, again the weather was perfect...hot, which is exactly what you want when you are at the lake. Then entire lake is surrounded by fine white sand, and I have to say that camping almost completely bare footed was pretty awesome. Our friend Jeff Bundy and his girl friend Danielle joined us, it was a great time.
Swimming off the boat to escape the heat, this was Caleb's first time swimming on his own in the deep part of a lake, we were all pretty excited about this milestone

Again we had rising water in an already record breaking lake levels, so there were lots of fun things to jump off of in the shallow water near our campsite

Cannonball coming

A very cool thunderhead that missed us luckily, but was fun to look at as the sun was setting

Our campsite out on a penninsula, lots of sand, some shade trees and mostly surrounded by water, what more could you ask for?

A casualty of the rising water, several protected birds had laid eggs in a sectioned off area, only to be consumed by the lake

Caleb's toad capture of the evening

Caleb showing off all his hard work

The release of the toads, I am sure they were relieved that their future was not so bleak after all

Another view of our campsite from our beach
